Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Recommended number of credits gained in Level 2 Mathematics: 10 Level 2 Achievement Standard credits

Recommended standards - Achieved or better in two or more of:

91257 (2.2) - Apply graphical methods in solving problems

91261 (2.6) - Apply algebraic methods in solving problems

91264 (2.9) - Use statistical methods to make an inference

91267 (2.12) - Apply probability methods in solving problems



The emphasis of this course is broader than the other 31F courses. It is a general course that offers a variety of different topics including some Calculus and some Statistics. Mathematical and statistical thinking are extended and placed in meaningful contexts.

If a student achieves 14 Level 3 credits in this course it will be counted as an approved subject for University Entrance.

Future Possibilities
This course provides the opportunity for students to leave their options open if they are unsure of  what they would like to do once they finish school. Many of the same fields as both of the other 31F courses can lead to, will still be open to them.
