Food & Nutrition 11F would be an advantage, but not essential.
Y12 Food & Nutrition students develop knowledge and research skills to solve real world nutritional challenges.
Students will analyse issues related to the provision of food for people with specific food needs, e.g. sports nutrition, early childhood or with teacher approval specific dietary requirements. An investigation is undertaken into societal influences such as advertising and economic considerations and their influence on nutritional issues that are prevalent in New Zealand society today. Sustainable food related practices are explored in relation to social, economic and environmental impacts. Food choices and eating patterns will be examined for external assessments. Students can expect to participate in practical food experiences linked to the learning.
