Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Completion of the Year 10 Digital Technologies course or previous computing experience (beyond playing games) and an interest in design.


This course develops valuable design and development skills and is about problem solving and creating rather than than the student  just being a user of digital technologies. Knowledge of multimedia will be developed to enable students to effectively communicate and present information.  Students will also work through the technology process from generating ideas to producing outcomes. 

This course will develop:
• skills in designing and developing a digital outcome • specific digital media skills
• an understanding of what is good design • project planning • evaluating
• computational thinking • an understanding of HCI (Human Computer Interaction)

Term 1 will be spent on students developing skills in their area of interest. In Terms 2 and 3 students will decide on a project and spend this time designing, creating and sharing to produce a completed digital technologies outcome.

Students will have choice in their direction based on their prior experiences and interests. Students are able to take both DTM11F and DTP11F should they wish to work on a bigger project by combining both areas.

Types of projects could be:
• Creating a website using HTML/CSS • Creating graphics and producing an infographic
• Creating an animation • Capturing video and editing to produce a film
• Creating the graphics for a game • Creating an App

Students may have the option to purchase a student licence of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite through the school.
A removable USB drive may be required depending on project and if working between home and school.
