WHAT THE COURSE WILL COVER:

This course is designed for those wishing to enhance their already proven leadership skills. Students will develop these skills through both theoretical and practical tasks.

The theoretical component of this course will have a strong focus on the "Key Competencies" and will explore topics such as:

  • Leadership Styles
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Problem/solving/Decision Making
  • Teamwork & Collaboration

The practical component students will have to apply the learnt theory to organise and implement activities within the school and community. This will allow students to extend and embed their knowledge in a personalised learning context.

A reflection process at the conclusion of each activity will allow students to gauge where they are at in terms of their own leadership and to then plan further personalised development.

Students are expected to organise and lead an activity and be able to reflect on the process and outcomes.

It is strongly recommended that students have previous leadership experience either in or outside of school - for example sports teams, cadets, councils, leadership positions at intermediate or primary.

WHERE DOES THE SUBJECT LEAD?

The skills developed in Yr10 Leadership Enhancement are beneficial in many curriculum and co-curricular settings beyond Year10.
